Both mediums are really good for improving composition and use of tone, eliminating complexity of mixing colours. Water soluble. They can be used as a sketching tool and worked over with brush or painted directly with brush.
Art Graf is the best quality brand, available in Australia ( I will have several crayons and pencils available for purchase ) inexpensive and long lasting. All you need is one watercolour brush and paper ( watercolour paper and some cartridge paper ).
