Hornsby Art Society will again be holding a 9″ x 5″ Exhibition of our own from 3rd to 6th October.
Last year we relaxed the rules to allow entries which did not precisely measure 9 x 5 inches due to problems obtaining canvases. However these are now available from HAS for the modest price of $2.00 each. They are triple coated studio quality canvases suitable for oil or acrylic. Of course entries do not have to be on canvas. They can be on board or paper, as long as the image is 9 x 5 inches.
The Exhibition will be open to all artist, not just members and to get you in the mood, we again plan on two FREE fun afternoon workshops. Bring along your paints and either your own canvases/boards or purchase canvases at the workshops and enjoy a glass of wine while you produce your masterpieces. Canvases are also available from the HAS office on Fridays between 9:00am and 12:00pm.
The first free workshop will be held on Sunday 19th May from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Wallarobba Places are limited so Click Here to book your space.
The second free workshop will be held on Sunday 11th August from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm at Wallarobba. Click Here to book your space.
In addition to completing a landscape painting step by step, we will look at brushwork, tone, composition, colour, drawing, edges and how to paint from photographs.
The workshops are aimed at intermediate artists but would also be very suitable for beginners.
Acrylic painters can be accommodated if they can mix colour well.
The workshop will concentrate on;
– Tonal recession
– Capturing light in a painting.
– Managing greens in the landscape.
– What to amplify, what to reduce and what to eliminate from a subject.
– Creating your own interpretation of a scene.
– Developing a method to quickly paint in the key elements of a scene.
